Sometimes love isn't enough.  

Rainbow bridge has 4 new fur angels. Nellie, a dog in foster care, gave birth to 8 puppies on May 21st. After a week the babies began to get sick with pneumonia. The doctors tried to save them but their little bodies weren't strong enough....rest in peace little ones..

PEPSI

Next time you even think about buying a dog, think of Pepsi.  Pepsi was discarded by his "owners" when they no longer had any use for him.  He was found as a stray and brought to Milwaukee Animal Control.  Castaway Pet Rescue came in to save him.  He could barely walk.  We consider ourselves lucky that we got to meet this sweet soul.  He lived his entirely too short life in a cage too small for his body causing his legs to be deformed which caused his knees and elbows to blow out and have severe hip dysplasia.  So really he never had a chance.  Nothing could be done to relieve his pain in this life.  He went over the Rainbow Bridge getting to experience true love for a short time.

Rest in peace Pepsi, we love you.

RUDY

Rudy was found as a stray in Gary, IN.  It was suspected that he had a gunshot wound to his shoulder and a possible broken leg.  We found transport directly to our vet's office where they determined that the back leg was the actual gunshot wound and the entire ankle was shattered, no chance to repair.  We had to amputate his leg, but he was in severe shock so they didn't think he'd make it through.  We put him in emergency care for the weekend to stabilize him.  The ER vets believe someone was aiming for his head, missed; the bullet grazed his shoulder and entered his leg.  Monday we did the leg amputation.  He made it through and then when they were getting ready to turn off the anesthesia a blood clot traveled to his heart causing him to go into cardiac arrest.  They tried to resuscitate him, but he was gone.  Everyone who had the honor of meeting him loved him.  He just melted into your arms.

It was a great loss and heartbreaking when Rudy died on the operating table during surgery. Our only solace is knowing he left this pain filled world knowing what human love and compassion was, something he should have been given from day one.
